Ryan has worked nearly exclusively with church and nonprofit organizations, including charter schools. He helps in locating and making location’s availability to other groups on a shared or exclusive basis. Ryan has also assisted in site evaluations, building permits, code and land variances. Zoning matters including entitlements and violations, Conditional, Special and Administrative Use Permits, and the always unpleasant Unlawful Detainer, (eviction).
He has negotiated, authored, and reviewed numerous contracts regarding the sale, rental, leasing or licensing of facilities (often in today’s economy on a shared basis). These include cell towers, property tax assessments/exemptions, corporate entity formation, nonprofit designation, wills/trust, indemnifications, and mechanic’s liens. His contracts are not fill-in-the-blank, or easily available standard catch-all or forms. They are well thought out and customized to the specific situation.
Ryan assists corporations in the many aspects of forming and maintaining the legal status of nonprofit and religious organizations. Including the establishment of state and federal tax-exempt status and resolving their contract and real property disputes. He offers legal guidance and educates board members and officers. He has authored numerous Articles of Incorporation, Statements of Faith, Constitutions, and By-Laws.
With a keen eye for health and safety violations and liabilities he regularly supervises repairs maintenance, and construction projects. This often includes acquiring bids, the necessary insurance, indemnification, legal Notice of Non Responsibility, and pro-active mechanic/property lien releases. “If I can’t fix it myself, I likely know someone who can.”

Gerald has been the head of our team since he obtained his real estate license in 1974. For the past 40+ years, the vast majority of his clients have been nonprofit organizations. These include clients all over the State, with many headquartered outside of the State of California. The vast majority of his 400+ clients have been churches and religious organizations.
He is one of the few Certified General Appraisers in the State meeting the competency requirements of the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), especially for cemeteries and mortuaries. He focuses on the appraisal of special use properties, such as churches, schools, mortuaries, and cemeteries. In addition, he has been a contractual City Real Estate Acquisition Agent, City Planning Commissioner, Land Developer, Appraiser, Real Estate Mortgage Loan Broker, Bank Founder and Director/Banker, Real Estate Broker, Developer, Superior Court Expert Witness assignments and testimony, and as a private Planning and Zoning Entitlement Consultant. These positions have involved many and varied clients, foundations, charities, charter schools, and municipalities. Gerald has gained an extremely broad depth of experience, understanding, and knowledge.
Gerald formally served as Chairman of the County of Nevada, California, (the largest public Cemetery District in the State with 27 cemeteries) and is currently appointed as chairman of the Nevada County real property Tax Assessment Appeals Board.
